Frequently asked questions.

How much does it cost to obtain a private pilot’s license?

Currently, it is between $10,000 and $15,000 to obtain a private pilot’s license. One main factor that may help reduce the overall cost is studying. As a general principle, the more time spent studying may contribute to more time in the airplane flying.

Why do I have to have ground lessons?

Ground lessons are very important to make sure you are knowledgeable in other areas such as weather, airplane performance, Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM), human factors, airspace, and current FAA regulations. The first portion of your check ride to obtain a certificate is a ground evaluation. You will be evaluated by a designated pilot examiner (DPE).

How often do I meet with my instructor?

That all depends on your schedule and how quickly you want to obtain your license. Our instructors are available 7 days a week. We do recommend that for every hour spent in the airplane, that you study for 3 hours, so keep that in mind when creating a schedule.

Do I have to pay for fuel?

You do not! Our aircraft rental is a “wet rate”. This means that fuel is included in the rental of the airplane.
